In anger Hiranyakashipu asked, “If he is everywhere, then is he in this pillar?” Prahlada informed him that Lord Vishnu is both inside and outside of everything in creation, including the pillar which Hiranyakashipu had pointed to. Finally in anger Hiranyakashipu asked to Prahlada, “Where is this God of yours that you keep speaking of?” To which Prahlada replied, “He is present everywhere.” Hiranyakashipu had tried many ways to kill his son, Prahlada, but the Lord had protected him each time.
He is especially worshiped for protection as He appeared to protect his dear devotee Bhakta Prahlada from the asura Hiranyakashipu.
